Mark Maguire is currently GIS Manager at Civil & Environmental Consultants in Pittsburgh, PA. He is a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) with more than 15 years of experience performing geospatial services and managing application development projects for public and private sector clients. Mark has served as the lead project manager and client liaison for several complex GIS projects, involving the management of staff and deliverables across several disciplines.
He has utilized GIS and spatial technology to analyze, develop, and maintain geographic data for projects related to energy, waste management, mining, and ecological preservation. He has performed expert testimony in support of his GIS work for an environmental litigation case, as well as educational outreach on GIS technology through his master’s thesis work and ‘GIS Day’ presentations. Mark has been actively involved in the Northwest PA GIS User Group and participates in the annual conference planning committee.
Mark earned a master’s degree in Geography from Boston University in 2003. In his spare time, he enjoys ultimate frisbee, home construction projects, and interesting craft beer. Since moving to Pittsburgh in 2009, he has enjoyed exploring the rich cultural and topographic history of Western Pennsylvania, and considers himself a connoisseur of Pittsburgh trivia.
